We offer socialization, daily lunch service, events, educational & informational seminars, exciting travel opportunities, senior assistance programs, enrichment classes, transportation, volunteer opportunities and much more! Body Spot Silver (ages 50+)Senior Center(Ages 50+) This total body workout includes: cardiovascular, floor exercises, weight training and yoga pilates. Students work at their own level and pace. Body Spot Silver is designed to strengthen the heart and lungs, tone and increase body strength, and improve flexibility and stability. Bring a set of hand weights and an exercise mat. Taught by Judy McGowan. Tai Chi (ages 50+)Senior Center(Ages 50+) Tai Chi is a series of gentle exercises, suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and health conditions. With practice it improves balance, flexibility, strength, stamina, agility, coordination, concentration, and awareness. This six-week course will cover the basic Tai Chi postures which are suitable for practice at home. Taught by Michigan Tai Chi Association. Chair Fitness with BarbSenior Center(Ages 50+) Barb will have you dancing in your chairs with choreographed exercise routines to some of your favorite songs. This class is for anyone who loves music and is looking to get their heart pumping to the beat. She will teach you each routine and adapt movements as needed. Barb has a degree in Recreational Therapy and Elementary Education. Her passion is to help others enjoy life and have fun!! So come to exercise and sing along with many of the songs!! QiGongSenior Center(Ages 50+) During this easy, relaxing exercise class, based on the ancient practice of QiGong, we will discover the Life Force Energy (call Qi) with our bodies and will use simple movements and sounds to enhance health. You will learn to use breathing to calm the mind and promote energy while giving you the feeling of peace and well-being. These simple exercises can be performed sitting or standing and no prior knowledge of QiGong is required. Comfortable clothes and footwear are required. Taught by Hilary Sproule, retired physical therapist and professor. Benefits of Qigong include improved performance in intellectual and creative endeavors and sports, better overall health and well-being, and extended longevity.
